What We Love
One of our favourite neo-vintage perpetual calendars, and arguably one of the most beautiful.
The reference 25668 takes AP’s ultra-thin perpetual calendar and completely opens it up, exposing the hand-finished and engraved calibre beneath the transparent dial. The result is a watch that feels more like a piece of mechanical art than a traditional QP, particularly in yellow gold, where the warmth of the case, movement and engraved rotor all come together beautifully.
Production was tiny, with just 94 examples produced in yellow gold.
At 36mm it has all the proportions we love from this period of AP, slim, elegant and incredibly wearable, while the openworked perpetual calendar gives it serious presence. Inside sits the automatic calibre 2120/2800, with the perpetual calendar displaying the day, date, month and moonphase.
This particular example is rather perfect. The case remains unpolished, retaining its original lines and definition, with the hallmarks untouched and beautifully preserved. The dial is mint and shows no cracks.
The watch is accompanied by its movement papers (not original warranty paperwork) and original Audemars Piguet yellow-gold pin buckle.
For us, this is exactly what neo-vintage AP does best, genuinely low production, traditional high watchmaking, beautiful hand finishing and a design that could only have come from this period.
