History — Jaquet-Droz has a long and complicated history, with many distinct chapters. More recently the Jaquet-Droz brand was acquired by Investcorp in 1989 (which also owned Breguet at the time) relaunching the brand in 1993 at Basel Watch Fair.
In 1995 The Jaquet-Droz brand was acquired by Breguet executives François Bodet and Yves Scherrer who launched a line of watches (can you spot the familiarities with the Breguet 3350…) and later in 2000 the brand was acquired again by Swatch Group.
Swatch Group placed the brand alongside Breguet and Blancpain in the “prestige and luxury” category. One important change occurred under Swatch Group ownership: hyphenated name, “Jaquet-Droz,” became simply “Jaquet Droz” and remains sans-hyphen to this day.
The watch you see here today HAS the hyphen, making it highly likely created between mid 90’s - 2000 (pre Swatch). Jaquet-Droz from this period borrowed a number of mechanical and visual elements from Breguet however it was the more flamboyant and experimental.

What I love — The decoration front and back makes for an extremely aesthetic watch. The mixture of textures and finishes combined with the stylised case edge and multiple complications is enough to keep my eyes occupied for days! It would be fair to describe this watch as rare, there are only 3 know with just a handful total thought to have been produced. This examples is presented in outstanding condition, with little to no wear, case engravings deep and crisp. The dial shows no imperfections.
What you need to know — Case is 36mm and just 10.5mm thick (thin?). The Breguet/Lemania caliber is somewhat familiar and has the addition of day and date complications. Overall I’m extremely honoured and excited to be able to list this watch, very excited to see where it lands.
