What We Love
A wonderfully quirky addition to our curation, this Vacheron Constantin pocket watch is crafted almost entirely from aluminium, weighing just 20 grams. Produced between the late 1940s and early 1960s, these unusual pieces were typically commissioned as long-service awards, most often for employees within the mining and metalworking industries, with many examples featuring personalised caseback engravings marking years of service.
This is the first generation of the design with the dial differing in design around the sub seconds, minute track and numerals to later models. The clean dial, elegant Breguet numerals and understated design give it a timeless feel that has aged well.
Despite its lightweight construction, the movement is beautifully finished and a pleasure to admire.
All in all, this is a subtle, insider’s kind of piece, one that quietly stands out to those who truly know what they’re looking at.

There are signs of wear across the case consistent with use over the years. The dial shows a slightly raised area between 11 and 12 numerals. Heavy aging on the handset and small seconds hand. Watch only.
We do not offer a mechanical warranty on pocket watches however would be more than happy to assist if you’d like it serviced. This example is currently ticking away happily.
