What We Love
A rare Cartier listing for us, but one that truly stands out. It looks and wears beautifully, carries remarkable historical significance in its movement, and visually commands attention among a sea of chronograph offerings.
The rosette guilloché dial is a major highlight, beautifully preserved with striking blue and grey printing that pairs perfectly with the blued hardware. The case retains deep, crisp engravings and remains in very good overall condition. On the wrist, it was a pleasant surprise, wearing noticeably smaller than expected, which I absolutely loved.
Some brilliant history from Mr Watchley to fully understand the importance of the model. ‘Launched in 1998 in this spirit as part of the much sought-after CPCP-collection and has been available in very limited numbers until 2008. It soon became a reference point in the history of fine watchmaking due to its caliber 045MC produced by THA Èbauche. A collaborative movement manufacture – founded in 1996 – consisting of three of the biggest names in independent watchmaking: Vianney Halter, Denis Flageollet (founder of De Bethune) and François-Paul Journe.’ - Mr Watchley.
On the movement it’s important to note the original bridge was not replaced in the Cartier service or the hexagonal screw, these are often changed/missing from manufacture service.
Overall a superb collectors example from the CPCP era that put Cartier back on the map as a premier manufacture.
What You Should Know
Wear from use across the case, couple of scratches to note highlighted in the photos. The watch was serviced and polished by Cartier late 2024.
