2016 Patek Philippe Retrograde Perpetual Calendar Saatchi London Edition Platinum Full Set
What We Love
A rarely encountered reference in the wild, and even more so as one of the original Saatchi Edition models. This particular watch was unveiled alongside a small selection of references at the brand’s 2015 Grand Exhibition held at the Saatchi Gallery in London. While further additions were later introduced under the ‘Vintage Collection’ banner, these should not be confused with the original Saatchi Edition pieces. To the best of current knowledge, only three examples of this reference have come to market.
The mesmerising deep blue dial transforms dramatically under changing light conditions, revealing a remarkable depth and richness of colour. Preserved in immaculate condition, it contrasts beautifully against the simplified dial layout, featuring silvered numerals and crisp white printing. The retrograde display is an especially pleasing detail and adds a distinctive touch to the overall design.
Measuring 36mm in diameter, the case wears wonderfully on my 17cm wrist. The lugs are particularly eye-catching, secured by prominent screw heads that allow for easy strap changes, while their elegant downward curve ensures a comfortable fit and excellent wrist presence. The case remains unpolished and is preserved in outstanding condition throughout.
One of the highlights of this watch is undoubtedly the officer-style caseback, which delightfully pops open to reveal the automatic movement beating within. It is a charming feature that perfectly complements the watch’s character and rarity, making this a truly special example from Patek Philippe.
The watch is accompanied by its platinum deployant clasp, box set, original paperwork, and additional Patek Philippe accessories.
What You Should Know
Light wear from use across the watch although very minimal. The boxset and paperwork will be with me in July, watch and set is from a close friend and great collector.
