1997/8 Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5060 With Service Papers, Extract (Ordered) And Boxset

£34,450.00

What We Love

The Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5060A was introduced in 1997 and actually sold as part of the popular Nautilus collection at the time. The 5060 was the very first ‘Aquanaut’ reference and remains one of the most historically significant modern Patek Philippe sports watches. Produced in stainless steel for only a short period between approximately 1997 and 1998, collectors often estimate total production at fewer than 1,000 pieces, although Patek Philippe has never officially confirmed the figure. One of the model’s most charming details is its close connection to the Nautilus line at launch, with even the original deployant clasp engraved ‘Nautilus’ internally.

This example presents in exceptional condition with a flawless dial and the correct original serif date disc. The case remains extremely clean, having just returned from a full Patek Philippe service including a light polish. It is accompanied by the highly desirable original ‘Nautilus’ engraved deployant clasp, Patek Philippe service paperwork, a period-correct box set, and an Extract from the Archives has been ordered and will follow.

In our view, the 5060A stands as the most intriguing and arguably the most collectible Aquanaut variant, being both the inaugural reference and produced in significantly smaller numbers than the later 5066 & 5065.

What You Should Know

The Extract from the Archives will follow the sale. During its recent Patek Philippe service the hands were replaced, something commonly seen on Aquanaut and 3800 Nautilus references from this era.
