What I love — The balanced aesthetic, handmade construction and rich history is a trifecta that gets even the most seasoned collector hot under the collar! The hand-finished, engine turned guilloché dial is the speciality of Derek Pratt, apparently requiring up to 700 operations and two full days to complete. The dial on this example is flawless, preserved perfectly from its inception. The case features the signature tear drop lugs and shows little to no wear, pre 1995 platinum hallmark crisp and deep. The stepped bezel and short lugs helps hug the wrist, with a 38mm diameter it wears just over my usual 36mm preference however the ultra thin profile and short lugs increases the wearability. This is one of the best examples I have ever seen, a great opportunity to add an ‘OG’?! Indie to the collection…
What you should know — Very minor hairlines on the case, the watch would honestly pass for being days old not 20+ years. The no.008 has an interesting story, apparently requested specifically by the original owner direct from Peter Baumberger, it is easy to forget that there were not queues and queues for these watches back in the day. Why this is relevant is because there is another Ref 3 in platinum featuring no.008 on the dial, two exist in the world, find it here. A fun quirk and for the record the condition on this one is better, but I am biased of course…
Watch comes with box and undated papers.
