A rare Asprey signed Blancpain Triple Calendar, the first I’ve had the pleasure of handling.
The case is in very good condition, just light signs of wear throughout. The lugs are thick with engravings and hallmarks crisp on the caseback. The bezel is also in fantastic shape. The Asprey engraving on the back is a sight to see, the first time seeing it on a blancpain for myself personally and the matching (original straps) also signed Asprey. Included in the sale (see pics), a 3rd part strap fitted for wear.
The dial is near perfect, the bold ‘20’ in Arabic and Khanjar dominate the dial, a rare removal of the ‘Blancpain’ logo from the dial shows the importance of this watch. Originally thought to be made to celebrate 20 years of Oman independence however this would place the watch 1971 which is too early for the model. Making it most likely commissioned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of HM Sultan Qaboos Al Said reign.
The watch has just completed a mechanical service with Blancpain here in London, accompanied by an Extract from Blancpain confirming the reference. A very rare example from one of my favorite brands, honoured to have it in stock and excited to see where it goes.
