Introduced in 1986, the 25644 was AP’s first self-winding chronograph wristwatch. Its calibre 2126/2840 would later power the first Royal Oak Offshore.
For us, the tantalum and rose gold version is the most interesting of the family. Tantalum’s dark and understated tone makes the warmth of the rose gold stand out beautifully. It is very eighties, but still feels fresh on the wrist! It is hardly the watch most people picture when they hear Audemars Piguet, and that’s rather refreshing 😮💨
This 1989 example is in immaculate, nearly new condition. It comes with stamped papers, instruction booklet, its original AP leather strap and original deployant clasp.
What You Should Know
At approximately 40mm, it is a little larger than our usual preference for watches of this period. That said, it wears perfectly on my 17cm wrist. There is very minor evidence of wear on the case but honestly as close to perfect as you would expect👌
