What I love — I’ve been hunting a gold-on-gold VC QP Skeleton since the early days of Watch Brothers London. Surprisingly, it appears far scarcer in the market than the platinum version, commonly believed to circa 150 pieces. There’s never been a solid estimate for the yellow-gold production, but based on real-world sightings, it’s certainly feels fewer than you’d expect.
This example is presented in superb condition. The case retains deep, crisp hallmarks and engravings, and the lugs remain thick and true to form. The dial is especially interesting, featuring gold/cream sub-dials that complement the case beautifully. As an early example, it carries the desired “low-sitting” VC logo font often associated with 1980s pieces. The dauphine hands are wonderful, full of character and complete the watch’s visual impact. Adding to the charm is the deep blue lapis lazuli moonphase, which brings a rich, luxurious contrast to the openworked architecture.
It comes with its original VC pin buckle, a period-correct pusher pin, and the VC Archive Extract has already been ordered.
A dream piece for any Vacheron Constantin collector—myself included.
What you should know — Very little to report, some light hairlines etc from use but honestly the watch is about as good as it gets.
