What I love — A gem set Nautilus, what’s not to love? This is a special one for me as its an early example dating 1983, the 3800 was launched officially in 1982 and at the time cost over 4.5x the price of the regular steel model.
Carrying an early production date the watch features all the traits you would expect such as the MK1 dial and dark ‘fat font’ date wheel. This combination along with the original early blade style clasp makes for a glorious example indeed, plus gold dial in a gold case is my personal favourite combination.
The watch appears to have been polished very well before coming to me, with all edges sharp and brushed/high polish sections perfectly defined. The dial is in mint condition and free from any imperfections, the hands are service replacements (however still correct tritium), which makes me think the polish was likely done by Patek at the same time. The bracelet is tight and sits upright on the clasp, logo on the clasp crisp, just what you want! Overall a very well maintained and visually stunning watch for the wrist.
What you should know — Light hairlines across the watch from use. Comes with 2025 Patek Philippe archive extract confirming the reference, movement/case numbers and dial all correct. The bracelet is a little short, fits my wrist which is just under 17cm, I’d be more than happy to purchase a couple links for the buyer if needed.
