Made in 1982, it’s an exceptionally early example, with a Patek Philippe Extract confirming both its production date and its gold dial.
The rare MK1 gold dial is immaculate and gives the steel and yellow gold Nautilus a proper dose of 1980s swagger. It has the correct black date disc with its distinctive fat font, an early MK1 detail that makes this example especially appealing.
Condition is a huge part of this watch. The case edges are sharp, the bracelet is exceptionally tight and long, and the Patek Philippe logo on the clasp remains crisp. It’s a remarkably well-preserved watch that feels every bit as good in hand as it looks.
What You Should Know
We recently sold this watch and have since bought it back from the owner, who is raising funds. There are light marks from wear, most noticeably on the top of the case just below the bezel at approximately 5 and 7 o’clock. The hands appear to have been relumed to colour match the dial plots at some point in the past. They do not react under UV light.
