1982 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 4100SA With Extract
What We Love
Honestly, a lot of reasons. First off, the fit, the 4100 just wears really well. It’s around 35mm, super thin, and feels spot on size-wise on the wrist (my wrist around 17cm).
I’m also a big fan of the two-tone. It’s pretty unpopular, which weirdly makes me like it more. In person it’s actually quite subtle, especially when the light hits it right, and it has that perfect vintage feel.
Then there’s the price. It’s one of the better value Royal Oaks out there right now, and compared to something like the 3800, it’s basically half the price.
And finally, the condition. This one’s in fantastic condition with original dial, hands, bracelet (super tight and fits up to 18,5cm), crown etc. Even the date wheel font lines up with the early ‘80s AP catalogs. The case was professionally refinished by Pendulum Lab, who I personally think does amazing work.
What You Should Know
The only thing to really note is the AP logo on the clasp was redone by Pendulum, this is larger than the original so I have sourced a period correct flip lock that can be installed if desired, it will be included with the sale regardless. This watch has been in my personal collection for 6months, now time for a new home!
