1981 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 4100BC White Gold With Archive Extract
What We Love
The rarest of them all. The Ref. 4100BC was produced in just 41 examples, making it one of the most elusive references in the lineage. Often overlooked, with steel and yellow gold variants typically taking centre stage, this is a watch that even seasoned collectors rarely encounter.
This example is razor sharp throughout. The case and integrated bracelet remain beautifully defined, while the bezel sits proudly above the screws as it should. It has clearly been loved and enjoyed but overall preserved in superb condition for a watch approaching 45 years of age.
The bracelet is super tight, showing little to no stretch, and will accommodate wrists up to 18.5cm. The clasp logo remains crisp and well-defined, with the clasp itself functioning perfectly and tight.
The dial is immaculate, featuring its factory-set diamond markers and the beautiful original small-logo signature. The correct handset remains in place, exactly as it should.
We sold this watch some time ago, and we’re delighted to welcome it back as a trade-in. Opportunities to acquire a 4100BC are few and far between, especially in this condition.
What You Should Know
There are signs of honest wear throughout the watch, including scratches from decades of use. It’s certainly not NOS, but it presents exceptionally well and can be enjoyed not cradled.
