What I love — Three things stand out. First, the ‘cappuccino’ dial — yes, it looks like someone spilled their coffee on it, and I love it. Second, the wave bracelet — incredibly comfortable, elegant, and unmistakably Ebel. And third, it’s a very early MK1 example with thick sub-dials and a non-lume handset, giving it that clean, purposeful vintage look.
The case remains in great shape with clear caseback engravings and strong definition throughout. The steel wave bracelet has zero stretch, features the correct end links, and fits the case perfectly. The dial is divisive — and I’m firmly on the love side. It has aged beautifully over time, now showing a warm, even cappuccino tone with subtle darker patches. Up close, the fine texture and intricate finishing remind you just how well Ebel executed these early Zenith-powered chronographs.
What you should know — The bracelet is period correct but added later. Links are adjusted via traditional pins, not screws. This isn’t a safe queen example; it’s been worn, enjoyed, and is ready to keep doing exactly that for the next 30 years.
