1977 IWC Ingenieur SL 1832 'Jumbo' Box, Heavy Paperwork and IWC Service
A rarely seen heavy hitter, the IWC Ingenieur SL reference 1832, aka the ‘Jumbo’. We all know the Genta Nautilus, Genta Royal Oak but lets not forget the Genta designed IWC Ingenieur 1832! Antimagnetic, screw-down crown and stunning black guilloche dial there’s a lot to love here, historically, mechanically and of course visually.
The case and bracelet are in absolutely superb condition (please see photos below), with barely a hairline to report. Chamfers and bevels are crisp throughout, perfectly retaining the original factory finish, especially the bezel. Looking at the bracelet it’s very tight with little to no stretch and comes fully linked. Overall a truly outstanding piece in time-capsule condition.
Moving onto our highlight, the dial. The black guilloche dial is a real attention grabber, as soon as it hits the light the pattern jumps to life and you find yourself rotating your wrist back and forth admiring the guiloche as it flickers in the light. The contrasting white text jumps off the dial and the tritium hands/dial match perfectly.
What makes this set truly outstanding is not only the condition of the watch but the accessories accompanying it. We have the original guarantee, extracts from the archives and certificate of authenticity from IWC from its latest service in 2020. Alongside all this you have the original early box and a whole host of other accessories from an IWC leather wallet to multiple service booklets/pamphlets (even its instruction manual). A true collectors set indeed!
